Study Claims Chinese Intelligence Agencies Vigorously Layout in Artificial Intelligence
According to a new report, Chinese intelligence agencies have invested heavily in the field of artificial intelligence, creating new tools to speed up analysis, provide threat warnings, and potentially assist in formulating combat plans during a war. Researchers evaluated patent applications, public contracts, and other materials of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to better understand how the Chinese military and intelligence agencies invest in artificial intelligence. The study found that China may be using a mix of various large language models, including models from companies such as Meta, OpenAI, DeepSeek, and Zhisuan AI. In October last year, the China Academy of Ordnance Science submitted a patent application for using various forms of intelligence to train military models. The research report stated that the application discussed how large language models are used, such as formulating action plans and helping battlefield intelligence analysts analyze friendly and enemy forces.
