Major Chinese AI companies, including Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent, temporarily disabled some features during the college entrance exams to prevent cheating. Popular AI applications such as Alibaba's Qwen and ByteDance's Doubao suspended their image recognition functions to prevent answering exam questions; while Tencent's Yuanbao and Kimi from Beijing Moonshot AI Technology Co., Ltd. completely disabled the photo recognition service during the exams. From June 7th to 10th, over 13.3 million Chinese examinees took the college entrance exams, and they were already prohibited from using devices such as mobile phones and laptops during the exams. Disabling some functions of AI chatbots was just an additional security measure to prevent exam cheating. The popular AI chatbot DeepSeek also stopped service during specific periods.
