The malfunction manifested as the website being accessible but not responding to user questions. OpenAI stated that it had identified the root cause of the problem and was working hard to fix it, and recommended that users follow its status page for the latest progress. ChatGPT itself also confirmed the global outage and recommended that users try alternative tools such as Gemini or Claude.
