Tesla's Optimus Robot Project Head Resigns
A senior artificial intelligence executive at Tesla left the company on Friday, dealing a setback to the Optimus robot project, which Chief Executive Elon Musk has called crucial to Tesla's future. Milan Kovac, vice president of engineering, oversaw the development of Tesla's Optimus, a humanoid robot at the center of Musk's vision to transform the electric vehicle maker into a robotics and AI company. Kovac posted on X that he was leaving for personal reasons and that his support for Musk and Tesla remained unwavering. "My departure now doesn't change anything," he wrote. "I've been away from home for too long and need to spend more time with my family abroad. I want to make it clear that this is the only reason and has nothing to do with anything else."
