Reddit filed a lawsuit against AI startup Anthropic in San Francisco on Wednesday, accusing it of breaching contracts, using its platform and data without authorization, and engaging in illegal and unfair competitive business practices. Reddit said that Anthropic used the user data on its platform to train models, and the unauthorized commercial use of its content has harmed it. Reddit's business model, apart from advertising, is to license user-generated content to AI companies. It has successively reached content licensing agreements worth hundreds of millions of dollars with OpenAI and Google.
