Brookfield Plans to Invest $9.9 Billion to Build AI Data Center in Sweden
On June 4, Brookfield, a giant in asset management, announced plans to invest up to 95 billion Swedish kronor to build an artificial intelligence data center in Strängnäs, Sweden. The construction of the project is expected to take 10 to 15 years, creating about 1,000 permanent jobs and an additional 2,000 jobs during the construction period. Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson posted on X on the same day, welcoming Brookfield's investment plan, saying, "This will be one of the largest data centers of its kind in Europe and one of Sweden's largest investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure to date." Sycuan Rashed, head of Brookfield's European region, said in an email comment, "Building an artificial intelligence center in Europe will ensure that the continent can compete globally, support continuous innovation and provide the necessary computing power for businesses and individuals."
