Banks and Warren were responding to a report by the Financial Times that NVIDIA is opening an R&D center in the Chinese city. The news agency, citing people familiar with the matter, said the facility would be used for potential expansion and existing employees, and the company is recruiting AI talent in China. An NVIDIA spokesperson disputed the report and said the company "simply leased a new space for existing employees who needed more room when returning to work after the pandemic." The two senators warned that the center could lead to the leakage, theft, or other transfer of sensitive information to China.
