Nvidia and AMD's "new down - spec AI chips" are about to come out.
NVIDIA and AMD's "New Downscaled AI Chips" Are on the Horizon
The chip supply chain has revealed that NVIDIA and AMD are rapidly adjusting their downscaled designs. It is expected that starting from July 2025, a new wave of compliant AI GPUs that can be sold to China will be launched. The relevant supply chain stated that the Chinese market is of great importance to NVIDIA and AMD. Although AMD's previous performance in the Chinese AI GPU market was far inferior to that of NVIDIA, its shipments have significantly increased. Therefore, launching downscaled chips is more beneficial for it, allowing it to compete with NVIDIA on the same stage. It is understood that the two major manufacturers are expected to launch "compliant" AI GPUs starting from July this year. NVIDIA temporarily names it B20, adopting the Blackwell architecture, with significant changes in memory and computing power performance. AMD, on the other hand, is seizing the market with products such as the Radeon AI PRO R9700, which is specifically designed for artificial intelligence workstations to accelerate local inference, model fine-tuning, and other data-intensive workflows.
