OpenAI to Set Up Office in South Korea in the Coming Months
OpenAI has established a legal entity in South Korea, seeking to further promote the adoption of its AI technology. The artificial intelligence company said in a press release on Monday that it plans to open an office in Seoul in the coming months and is hiring staff to support cooperation with businesses and policymakers. OpenAI data shows that South Korea has the largest number of paying ChatGPT users outside the United States. This will be OpenAI's third office in Asia, following those in Japan and Singapore. The San Francisco-based company said it currently has nearly 40 employees in Japan and another twenty in Singapore. The company's chief strategy officer, Jason Kwon, will meet with government officials and potential industry partners across Asia this week to discuss artificial intelligence infrastructure and the use of OpenAI software.
