Nvidia to Launch Cheaper Blackwell AI Chip for China
According to an exclusive report by Reuters, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Nvidia is about to launch a new artificial intelligence chip in China. Its selling price is much lower than that of the recently restricted H20 model, and mass production is planned to start as early as June.
According to two sources, this GPU, or graphics processing unit, will be part of Nvidia's latest generation of Blackwell architecture AI processor series. The expected selling price is between $6,500 and $8,000, which is significantly lower than the $10,000 - $12,000 price of the H20.
The lower price is because its configuration is not as powerful as before and it is less complex to manufacture.
Two sources said that this GPU is based on Nvidia's RTX Pro 6000D, a server - level graphics processing unit, and will use conventional GDDR7 video memory instead of the more advanced high - bandwidth memory.
They also added that this product will not use TSMC's advanced Chip on Wafer on Substrate (CoWoS) technology.
The selling price, specifications, and production time of this new chip have not been announced before.
TSMC declined to comment.
