OpenAI Upgrades Operator Agent: Switches to o3 Model to Enhance Reasoning, May Be Available to Plus Users in the Future
OpenAI recently confirmed that its "Operator" agent for automating web tasks has been upgraded and has started using the new "o3" model, replacing the previous "4o" model. This update aims to significantly enhance Operator's reasoning ability, persistence, and accuracy when interacting with the browser, thus improving the overall task success rate and making responses clearer, more detailed, and structured. Operator allows users to delegate AI to perform repetitive web operations such as filling out forms and ordering products. It is currently in the research preview stage and is only available to ChatGPT Pro and enterprise subscription users who pay $200 per month. OpenAI plans to expand this feature to Plus subscription users who pay $20 per month in the future and is internally testing new ways to improve its practicality.
