Apple Plans to Launch AI-Powered Smart Glasses in 2026
Apple Inc. plans to release smart glasses by the end of next year, aiming to further capture the market for AI-enhanced devices. However, the company has shelved its plan to develop a smartwatch equipped with a built-in camera to analyze the surrounding environment. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple engineers are stepping up the development of these glasses with the goal of launching them by the end of 2026. The product will compete with Meta's popular Ray-Ban smart glasses. The people familiar with the matter said that Apple will start collaborating with overseas suppliers by the end of this year to produce a large number of prototype products. Apple's smart glasses will be equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker, enabling them to analyze the outside world and receive instructions through the Siri voice assistant. They can also handle tasks such as phone calls, music playback, real-time translation, and step-by-step navigation.
