OpenAI CSO to Visit Multiple Asia-Pacific Countries Next Week to Discuss AI Infrastructure
OpenAI is looking at the Asia-Pacific region for future data center sites, joining the already fierce competition in artificial intelligence infrastructure construction in the region. Prior to this, OpenAI had just reached a cooperation agreement with the UAE to assist the latter in developing a large-scale data center project in Abu Dhabi. The Asia-Pacific region has the largest number of data centers in the world, and Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta all have expansion plans. Jason Kwon, OpenAI's Chief Strategy Officer, will visit the region to meet with government officials and potential private-sector partners to discuss AI infrastructure construction and the application of OpenAI software. A person familiar with the matter revealed that Kwon is scheduled to start visiting countries such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, India, and Singapore next week.
