OpenAI Expands Stargate Data Center in Abu Dhabi
OpenAI said it is assisting the United Arab Emirates in developing a large-scale data center, which represents a major overseas expansion of its Stargate AI infrastructure construction plan. The ChatGPT developer is collaborating with G42 to build a data center cluster with a capacity of up to 5,000 megawatts in Abu Dhabi. OpenAI said that as part of the deal, G42 plans to make an equivalent investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure in the United States. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, said, "By establishing the world's first 'Stargate' outside the United States in the UAE, we are turning a bold vision into reality. This is a step towards ensuring that some of the most important breakthroughs of this era - safer medicines, personalized learning, and modern energy - can emerge in more places and benefit the world."
