But when it comes to relaxing chip restrictions on China, I do think there are concerns across both parties and various sectors about these GPUs entering China." However, Krishnan also said that while the Trump administration still sees security risks in expanding the export of AI chips to China, the government agrees with Huang's view that the US should re-examine the restrictive measures against many other trading partners. Krishnan pointed out that the Trump administration is planning to revoke and replace the AI proliferation rules formulated during the Biden era, which created the so-called "GPU haves" and "GPU have-nots."
