The report says AI poses a greater threat to women's jobs than men's
A report released by the United Nations International Labour Organization on Tuesday shows that jobs traditionally held by women are more vulnerable to the impact of AI than men's jobs, especially in high-income countries. The report found that as AI increasingly takes on administrative tasks and transforms clerical jobs such as secretaries, 9.6% of traditional female jobs are facing transformation, compared with 3.5% of male jobs. The report points out that many tasks still require human participation, and relevant positions are more likely to undergo fundamental changes rather than disappear completely. As generative AI continues to expand its learning capabilities, positions related to media, software, and finance are also at the forefront of change. The report states, "This 'exposure' does not mean the immediate automation of an entire profession, but rather that a large proportion of current tasks could potentially be completed through this technology."
