Nvidia's Chips for China Will No Longer Be from the Hopper Series
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on Saturday that after the U.S. government restricted the sale of the Hopper - architecture H20 chips to China, the company is evaluating how to approach the Chinese market, but will no longer introduce other versions of chips from the Hopper series. When asked about the next chip for China after the H20, Jensen Huang said, "It won't be a Hopper - architecture chip because Hopper can no longer be modified." Reuters reported earlier this month that Nvidia plans to introduce a downgraded version of the H20 chip for the Chinese market within the next two months to boost its sales in China. Currently, Nvidia's market share in China has been eroded by domestic rivals such as Huawei. Jensen Huang also said that the previous U.S. artificial intelligence export control policy was wrong, and it should have focused on maximizing the global popularity of U.S. technology.
