OpenAI Launches Preview Version of Codex, a Cloud-based Automated Software Engineering Agent

OpenAI has released the research preview version of Codex based on the codex-1 model. As a cloud-based software engineering agent, it can parallelly execute tasks such as writing new features, fixing bugs, answering codebase questions, and generating Pull Requests in an independent sandbox environment. Developers can submit instructions through the ChatGPT sidebar, monitor the progress in real time, and review or merge changes with one click. Codex is already available to ChatGPT Pro, Team, and Enterprise users, and support for Plus and Edu versions will be coming soon.
