Microsoft Starts Testing "Hey Copilot!" in Windows
Microsoft is testing a feature of Copilot Voice that will allow Win 11 users to initiate a conversation with the app by saying "Hey Copilot!". Windows Insiders who have received the updated app can try it after opting in and activating the feature. Users need to enable this feature for it to respond to the wake word. Additionally, this update will not be available to all Windows Insiders immediately, but is being gradually rolled out to testers worldwide who have set English as their display language. This feature uses a device-side wake word detector with a 10-second audio buffer and does not send audio clips to the cloud or save them locally. The wake word can be recognized even when offline, but an internet connection is still required for the Copilot Voice feature to actually perform operations in order to call on cloud processing power.
