AI company xAI adds "memory" function to Grok
Elon Musk's AI company xAI is gradually bringing its chatbot Grok up to the level of top competitors like ChatGPT and Google's Gemini. On Wednesday night, xAI announced the launch of a "memory" function for Grok, enabling the chatbot to remember details from past conversations. If you now ask Grok for recommendations, it will provide more personalized answers — provided you use it enough for it to "learn" your preferences. A post on Grok's official account on X reads, "Memory is transparent. You can clearly see what Grok knows and choose what to forget." Grok's new memory feature is available in beta on Grok.com as well as on the Grok iOS and Android apps, but not for users in the EU or the UK. The feature can be turned off on the data control page in the settings menu.
