Google DeepMind Is Hiring a "Post-AGI" Research Scientist
None of the leading artificial intelligence research labs have provided any evidence that they are on the verge of achieving artificial general intelligence, no matter how they define this goal. However, Google has already started planning for the "post-AGI" era by hiring a scientist for its DeepMind AI lab to study the "far-reaching impacts" the technology will have on society. Google wrote in the first item of the job's main responsibilities list: "Lead research projects to explore the impacts of AGI on areas such as the economy, law, health/well-being, AGI to ASI [artificial superintelligence], machine consciousness, and education." Other main responsibilities include conducting "in-depth research to analyze the social impacts of AGI in key areas"; and "building infrastructure and evaluation frameworks to systematically assess the social impacts of AI."
