OpenAI Secretly Develops Social Network, May Integrate into ChatGPT to Challenge X and Meta
According to insiders, OpenAI is developing a prototype of an X-like social network, with its core functions centered around ChatGPT's image generation module to build a social information stream. CEO Sam Altman has solicited internal feedback, and the product may be either an independent application or directly integrated into the ChatGPT client. This move will intensify competition with Elon Musk (whose Grok has been deeply integrated with X content) and Meta (which plans to add social features to its AI assistant).
Analysis points out that building its own social platform can provide OpenAI with real-time data for model training, making up for the current shortcoming of relying on third-party data. Altman previously jokingly said, "If Meta makes an AI social application, OpenAI will follow suit." Currently, the project is still in the early stages, and the final release form has not been confirmed.
