Hugging Face Acquires a Humanoid Robot Company

Hugging Face, an artificial intelligence development platform, has acquired French robotics startup Pollen Robotics. The transaction amount was not disclosed. Hugging Face plans to sell Pollen's humanoid robot Reachy 2 and allow developers to download its code and submit improvement suggestions. Pollen Robotics was founded in 2016 by Mathieu Laperle and Pierre Rouanet and is committed to providing affordable humanoid robots for households. According to Crunchbase data, the company had raised 2.5 million euros from investors such as Bpifrance before the acquisition. This acquisition marks the expansion of Hugging Face's robotics business, in which Pollen had been deeply involved in related R & D previously.
