Nvidia says it plans to manufacture some AI chips in the US
Nvidia said that as part of its plan to shift some production to the US, the company has commissioned more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing space in Arizona and Texas for building and testing AI chips. The chipmaker said that its Blackwell chip has started production at TSMC's chip factory in Phoenix, Arizona, and is collaborating with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas, Texas, to build "supercomputer" manufacturing plants. The company added that in Arizona, Nvidia is working with Amkor Technology and SPIL on packaging and testing operations. According to Nvidia, mass production at the Arizona and Texas plants is expected to expand within the next 12 to 15 months. Over the next four years, the company aims to produce up to $500 billion worth of AI infrastructure in the US.
