OpenAI may soon require organizations to complete identity verification in order to access certain advanced AI models in its API. The verification requires the provision of identity documents issued by the government of a country supported by the OpenAI API. Each identity document can only verify one organization every 90 days, and not all organizations are eligible. OpenAI said this move aims to reduce the insecure use of AI and may prevent IP theft. Previously, DeepSeek was accused of using the OpenAI API to train its model, violating OpenAI's policies.
