OpenAI Plans to Implement an Organization Verification Mechanism, Requiring Identity Verification for Using Advanced Model APIs

OpenAI stated on its support page that the company may soon require organizations to complete an identity verification process in order to access certain future AI models. This verification process is called "Verified Organization".

The support page states, "This is a new way for developers to unlock the most advanced models and features on the OpenAI platform." The verification requires a government-issued identification from a country where the OpenAI API is supported. OpenAI said that one ID can only verify one organization every 90 days, and not all organizations are eligible for verification.
