Access to Future AI Models in OpenAI API May Require ID Verification
According to a notice posted on OpenAI's official website support page last week, the company may soon require organizations to complete an identity verification process in order to use certain future artificial intelligence models. This verification process is called "Verified Organizations", and the official website page describes it as a new way for developers to unlock the most advanced models and features of the OpenAI platform. Verification requires providing a government-issued identification document from a country supported by the OpenAI API. One identification document can only verify one organization every ninety days, and not all organizations are eligible for verification. The official website page states: "Unfortunately, a small number of developers deliberately violate OpenAI's usage policies and misuse the OpenAI API. To reduce the unsafe use of artificial intelligence while continuing to provide advanced models to a wider developer community, OpenAI has added this verification process."
