On April 10, STMicroelectronics announced the "Remodeling Manufacturing Layout and Adjusting Global Cost Base" plan. STMicroelectronics plans to focus on investing in the advanced manufacturing infrastructure and technology research and development of 300mm silicon wafers and 200mm silicon carbide in the fiscal years of 2025, 2026, and 2027. The company also plans to continue investing in upgrading the technologies used in its operations and deploying more artificial intelligence and automation technologies. The statement said that this company-wide plan, including the previously disclosed cost base adjustment and manufacturing layout remodeling, is expected to result in the voluntary departure of up to 2,800 employees worldwide within three years, excluding normal staff turnover.
