🤖 Google Expands Conversational AI Search: AI Mode Opened to Millions of US Users and Integrated into Lens
Google announced that it is making its conversational AI search feature "AI Mode", which it started testing in March, available to "millions more Labs users" in the United States. This feature is designed to compete with other AI chatbots with web search capabilities, supports multi-round conversational queries, and goes beyond the AI Overview feature launched in May last year. Users can get more specific information by following up. For example, after querying plants suitable for a specific region, they can continue to ask about nearby purchase locations. The answers provided by AI Mode come with source links, and users need to click on the icon to view the source page. In addition, Google has integrated AI Mode into the Lens feature of the Android and iOS versions of the Google app, using its Gemini AI model to analyze the entire image scene and provide relevant information. For instance, it can recommend books on similar topics or with a faster reading pace based on the books on a bookshelf. The official requirement is to use the latest version of the Chrome browser or the Google app, but some users have found that it can also be used successfully on Safari browser on Mac.
