Microsoft Launches New Copilot Search, Challenging Google's AI Model
Now, Microsoft is introducing a similar feature called Copilot Search in Bing. Everyone can now access Copilot Search via bing.com/copilotsearch. As shown in the figure above, the Copilot Search homepage contains example queries and a search bar at the bottom. When you enter a query, Copilot Search uses AI to generate a response, extracting information from multiple online sources. On the response page, two prominent buttons appear: "View All Links" and "View Reasoning". Clicking "View All Links" opens a sidebar showing relevant links and sources related to the response. Clicking "View Reasoning" shows how Copilot Search formulates the response. Users can also use the text box, which is always displayed at the bottom of the screen, to enter follow-up queries. The answers to follow-up questions appear on the same page, and users can easily scroll up to view the original answer. Microsoft also displays hyperlinks to images and videos on the right side of the page. However, clicking these hyperlinks redirects users to the standard Bing image and video experience. For users who prefer the classic web link experience, Bing will continue to offer that option. When users make natural language queries on Bing, they will see the Copilot Answer section at the top of the web links, providing a hybrid experience similar to Google AI Overviews.
