Rockbox, a free software firmware designed specifically for digital audio players, has recently released version 4.0. This update significantly reduces core complexity at the cost of removing compatibility with the initially supported Archos Player, marking the end of an era. Important new features include: adding support for multiple players such as AIGO EROS Q and EROS K (and their cloned models like AGPTek H3, HifiWalker H2, Surfans F20), FiiO M3K, Shanling Q1, and xDuoo X3ii and X20. In addition, Rockbox 4.0 has also updated codecs and improved the user interface.
