Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger Says the Company Will Divest Non-core Assets
Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said the chipmaker will divest assets that are not crucial to its mission and develop new products, including custom semiconductors, to better meet customer needs. Gelsinger said Intel needs to replenish the lost engineering talent, improve its balance sheet, and better adjust its production processes to meet the needs of potential customers. Gelsinger made his first public appearance as CEO at the Intel Vision Conference held in Las Vegas on Monday. Gelsinger told the company's customers present, "We still have a lot of hard work to do. In some aspects, we haven't lived up to your expectations." He said Intel's chips for data centers, especially those related to artificial intelligence, are not good enough. He said, "We've fallen behind in innovation. We've been too slow to adapt and meet your needs."
