Google's New Model Gemini 2.5 Pro Is Open to Free Users

Non-paying Gemini users can now experience Google's latest model, the experimental version of Gemini 2.5 Pro. Google announced over the weekend that it will offer Gemini 2.5 Pro (Experimental) for free to everyone, but non-subscribing users will face more stringent rate limits. Google launched the model just last week, calling it the smartest AI model to date, and initially rolled it out to Gemini Advanced users. The model is now available in Google AI Studio and the Gemini app. While free users can now also have a go, Google added that "Gemini Advanced users have broader access and a larger context window." Gemini 2.5 Pro (Experimental) is the first in Google's Gemini 2.5 "thinking" models, which can provide more accurate results through reasoning.
